In answering the questions from both sections, one should keep the following points in his/her mind.
Section A: Theory-Based Questions
- Carefully read the question, focusing on tail words like comment, critically evaluate etc, as they guide the exact demand and help frame a relevant answer.
- Identify the type of question to customize your approach, ensuring that your answer focuses on the right aspects and meets the examiner’s expectations.
- Define ethical terms such as integrity, empathy, public service among others precisely. Avoid vague explanations, and ensure you demonstrate the practical relevance of these concepts.
- Try to raise the quantity of arguments and avoid giving over emphasis on one important argument or view.

- Focus more on reading the question and while noticing the facts of the situation, try to identify the ethical issues, and stakeholders during reading only.
- Try to write a brief introduction that just refers to key ethical issues and stakeholders present in it.
- Frame your answer strictly according to the sub-questions (a,b, or c). Most of the time they are very straight questions without any vagueness.
- Focus more on reasoning which is logically put and explained. In such a question, from the point of view of the exam, it doesn’t matter what course of action you are choosing provided you have ethical reasons and logic to explain it.
- Focus more on the manner of analysis of the ethical dilemma at hand. The solutions we eventually opt for, are feasible to the extent of being institutionalized so that if a similar problem arises, the suggested way becomes the norm. That way the effort would seem broader, legal, ethical, and implementable.
- Conclusion in case study questions is your reasoning based on ethical principles & values provided for your chosen course of action.
